A Discouraging Word
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Traditional Cowboy Song - Author Unknown
Clouds! They have a way of playing with the weather and sometimes our heads! Here in Wisconsin, we recently had 20 days with no sun. It really started to get to people. We weren’t having our usual conversations about the winter weather, we were all complaining about the lack of sun. People were getting discouraged. Gloom was in the air. And then one day it happened. The sun came out again. We smiled more. There was a spring in our step.
Is there anybody out there who lives in Seattle or England who can tell me how you deal with the lack of sun???
The opposite of discouragement is encouragement. Think of what happens to you when someone says…
I like your jewelry…
or, you are really good at that!
or, I hope you can come, it will be more fun if you’re there!
Suddenly, in our mind the sun comes out again. We say an embarrassed thank you and make a mental note that we received a compliment. We feel good.
It’s the same with this time of life. You need to be encouraged that there are answers, that you’ll see improvement and it will be ok.
Make sure to take a moment and encourage someone else today. Decide to fight discouragement with what works best for you. Be good to yourself.
Oh, and of course…
I encourage you to keep taking your Remifemin!
Let’s chat! What encourages you? What discourages you? How do you handle disappointment? (Tell your friends about this blog…the more the merrier!)

Hi Nonnameme,
Your comment jogged my memory to make me think of someone who kept an "encourgement" box...whenever they were feeling discouraged, they pulled out this box where they kept the kinds words, cards and acolades they had received throught the years...hey..not a bad idea!

Hi Jo-Anne,
I guess what comes to mind is the old adage "walk a mile in my shoes"...! Until someone has begun to experience all that menopause holds, it's hard to understand. And let's face it...men are never going to experience it. They can however learn about it which makes them responsible past the point of "why are you so cranky?" Good for you on pointing out that they can learn about it and gain some greater understanding of what you're going through. You are not alone! There is great comfort in that. Keep your chin up, this will pass... and keep taking your Remifmein. The best is yet to come!
