My Views on Marble Cake
Call me crazy, but I think it shouldn't be a choice. Oh sure, you know the drill. Graduations, birthdays, retirements...you're standing at the counter and the clerk says "What type of cake would you like"...and before you know it, you think you're doing the diplomatic thing by standing in the middle and picking marble cake. Well you're wrong. You have not satisfied people who like white cake and you have not satisfied the people who like chocolate cake. Yes, they may still eat it but inside they are thinking...."this is just not satisfying!"
Next to the conversation of how good the frosting is, it's all about the cake. I've actually made this theory so well known among my friends that if we go somewhere and the people don't know me very well, the people who do know me will try to see my reaction when the cake is cut and the namby-pamby choice is revealed. (I just looked up namby-pamby and it's actually in the dictionary!)
So, what's my point? Boycott marble cake! But, yes, in a pinch, I eat that too. :)
So do you have any earth shattering views on things like marble cake?
I have an assignment for you. I get lots of emails from people directly, but then, everyone on the blog doesn't get to hear from you...so ....this week, in addition to boycotting marble cake, get some of your girlfriends on line and start blogging!
Oh..and ....are you taking your Remifemin? Have you tried Remifemin Good Night yet?
Send me some news!

I know exactly what you're talking about Michele. Opting for Marble Cake is our way of trying to please everyone. Often times in the process of compromise we women lose ourselves in sacrificing for others. I think the beauty of getting older is realizing that I can't please everyone so the choices I make need to fulfill me too. I can’t keep giving to others if I don’t make some choices that re-energize me. In other words if you’re ordering the cake and your flavor of choice is chocolate, order it! There will be some people who only like vanilla, but you’ll enjoy the chocolate fix and the people that share it with you.

Hi!
What a great analogy! Marble cake is like trying to please everyone and it's a compromise that can point to our tendency to compromise in other areas of our life when we shouldn't. Good thoughts...thanks for sharing...
Hey bloggers! What do you think?

Hi Nonnameme!
Cheesecake! Yum! Love that too!
Red Velvet cake is probably really bad for you because it has a whole bottle of red food coloring in it...but it's heavenly...it was sometimes called Waldorf Astoria cake...I think made famous at that Hotel...if I spelled it correctly!

Hi JoAnne,
So instead of the old saying...
"Let them eat cake"...it's "Let them eat pie!"...I was at the Grand Hotel last weekend on Mackinaw Island in Michigan to celebrate my big 50 milestone birthday and sister let me tell you...there were desserts beyond compare...but no marble cake!!
:) Good to hear about Remifemin...keep it up and keep blogging...love your fun insights!

Hi Michele,
You are so correct about marble cake, especially when it's made with those horrifying mixes that supermarkets use that BOTH TASTE THE SAME ANYWAY! I mean come on!! Who are they kidding, chocolate and vanilla??!!! It's all just tasteless air. If you have time, make yourself an old fashioned chocolate cake with Scharffenberger's chocolate or cocoa. Now that there is some FLAVA! I just ordered my free sample of Remifemin, and I wait ever so patiently with my eyes on the mailbox and my semisweet morsels in hand. By the way, a good old Pound Cake is nothing to sneeze at, either.

Hi Nikkininia!
Controversy! I love it! Someone is sticking up for marble cake! I can see why, you have such fond memories of it. Do you think you would feel as strongly about it if you had this memory with white or chocolate or spice cake? Is it really the marble cake....or the memory? Hmmmmmm. Loved your blog, I look forward to more! :)

I know...the dye thing...I don't know if that's part of the flavor or not...I never tried it without it, but I eat it so seldome, I might risk my once a year cake!
