Think of Algebra

When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.
-anonymous

Boy, did I hate Algebra! I must say with a very smug smile that I was right. I told them I would never use it and I never have. The truth is, I couldn't if I wanted to, because I don't understand it! Thank goodness my husband had a handle on it when my kids were growing up because I passed along the "no math" gene to them too...(One is a professional figure skater and coach and the other is a singer, songwriter, not excatly math-filled professions!)

That is one of the many things that's great about being our age...we finally start to get rid of some of the "rules" in our head and do what we really want to do. Of course, when it comes to menopause, all of a sudden the playing field drastically changes, and we're left wondering if we "get it" at all.

That's why I rely on Remifemin and Remifemin Good Night. I'm hearing from some of you that you're having trouble finding Remifemin Good Night and I'm really sorry about that! One thing you can do is tell the store where you'd like to buy it, that you'd like them to stock it...especially if they already have Remifemin. The way retailers work is they won't always put two products on the shelf, but if customers start asking for it, they are more likely to.
You can always get it at www.shopenzy.com So make your voice heard to store managers and let me know what kind of reactions you get!

Anyone else hate Algebra? What rules in your head have you overcome? How are you doing?
Let's Talk!

    Hi Jo-Anne!
Ah, we are so alike...no math. I mean I have to balance my check book and add up my pennies to see if I can afford that new purse I really think I have to have...but that's it for math, algebra and me! :O) Probably why I'm a writer instead!
That whole male/female math thing is debated until the cows come home, I just think we're all born with different strenghts and talents. The other problem is probably how math is taught. I think it's taught by people who understand it easily, so they can't understand why it's difficult for someone else. They can usually approach it only from one angle of knowledge, leaving the right brains out in the cold.
Glad you found Remifemin...and the blog! Keep taking Remifemin and keep blogging!

Actually you use algebra daily but probably just don't realize it. Just looking at your shopping basket to make sure you can use the 10-items-or-less line, or figuring out how much time is left for the dinner in the oven, or figuring out how much a 15% off dress actually costs is all algebra.

When teaching Business Math or Statistics or Accounting to my students I remind them that success is mostly hard work and very little inherent skill. And I firmly disagree that men do better in math (or anything else). And, yes, this is coming from a man.

    HI SteveG!
Thanks for blogging! First, I'm wondering if you have anyone in your world experiencing perimenopause or menopause...always interesting to hear from a man's perspective...and then curious how you found our blog at all! (Was it the word ALGEBRA that caught your eye?) Still have to disagree with you...talked to some women here and we all agree...you're talking about counting and math, not algebra. That we have never used! :) Train a leaves the station and goes 7 miles per hour, train B goes 59 miles per hour...which train gets to the station faster...stuff like that...algebra! So we make a clear distinction between counting, math and algebra...just think of all those students you have thinking just like us???:)
    thanks for your thoughts!

    Hi Michele.

I have to admit that I did well with math in school and I use it in my job everday...budget and accounting work. I don't think the math/algebra thing is gender based..Perhaps it is more a left brain vs. right brain thing. We all tend to do well with things we enjoy and some folks enjoy solving puzzles while others are the more creative types. Luckily we have both types to keep the world balanced!

I had a partial hysterectomy when I was in my 30's...I kept my ovaries, but haven't had a period in 20 years. So, I keep wondering if menopause is suppose to offically be 1 year after your last period...how will I know when I've reached it?

I have been taking both Remifemin and Soy tablets for 3 weeks, and am not certain if it is working yet or not. My symptoms (both hot flashes and night sweats) had been continuing to escalate when I start taking Remifemin so it may be that the Remifemin is working and I'd find the symptoms much worse if I stopped taking it.

    Hi On Fire in Alaska!
Yaa...you know we need all the left and right brains...definately!
Good thoughts...I love putting something out there that will get people talking! :) Yes, you have the technical definition of menopause correctly, but those nasty symptoms that we all hate can continue on long after the period is done. Remifemin is to get relief for a change from the symptoms, where you are perimenopausal or menopausal.
Read the FAQ's and more info at www.remifemin.com Also, keep in mind, soy is a phyto-estrogen, meaning a hormone. Remifemin is hormone free. When you take Remifemin, you are not putting hormones in your body. With soy, you are. That's why Remifemin is safe for women with a history of breast cancer. They can't take soy. Also keep in mind, everyone is different, but clinical studies showed that Remifemin worked best between 4-12 weeks of continuous use. Also, if your symptoms are severe you can take more. Check out all this info at www.remifemin.com...and you're going to love this...
"it all adds up"! That's my math humor. Keep blogging and take care!

I HATED Math too! Our son, now a college freshman, inherited that gene from me. His dad is stock broker and works with numbers all the time. Too bad he didn't get his gene.

I've been using Remifemin for almost a month. I noticed a remarkable difference within the first week! I'm down to 0-1 hot flashes and 0 night sweats. Hooray! I was having non-stop hot flashes for almost a month before calling my GYN and asking for help. I'm glad I did!
