    Happy New Year Michele
I just have have been experiencing menopause symptoms for about a year now and I am only 41 and didn't know that I could experience them at my young age.Can it run in the family?I should ask my mother when she started to have those symptoms it might help me understand what I am going thru.I am starting to watch what I eat so that I can lose weight and have a better healthier lifestyle. As for excercising I don't know what types to do since I had my left knee replaced and also have trouble with my feet so I can't walk that far without my feet hurting. Can you give me any tips or advice?

    Hi Kim,
Yes, you are most likley to start menopause the same time your Mom did, so it is a good idea to ask her. Check with your doctor about what types of exercise are best for you...I'm sure they would have a lot of good suggestions for you. The bottom line is, we just have to exercise for good health, no way around it. Do some research and talk to your doctor and I know there's something out there for you...and remember...be very good to yourself!

    Hi Nonnameme!
Wow...that seems kind of drastic to avoid a hot flash...but fine I'm sure if you were planning to give blood anyway! See the thing is...you can only do that once a month and you can take Remifemin every day! Still seems a better way! :) Good for you for donating though...it's really important...
and always appreciated by people who really need it. Hope you're all set for a great year!

I just now heard about this product Remifemin, and then I went to this article:

    http://www.webmd.com/content/article/75/89785.htm

It talks about how black cohosh can cause liver problems, stomach aches and extreme fatigue. How safe is this product anway? I don't want to trade one big problem for a bigger problem.

    Please fill me in,

Thanks. I'm new to this board.

    Linda

    Hi Linda...
Here's the good word on your concerns:
Our team of medical experts is constantly scanning recent news and research for any information that may pertain to the safety and efficacy of our products. We are aware of the latest black cohosh-liver concerns sweeping the news headlines

Based on the long history of safe and successful use of black cohosh and the multiple, controlled clinical studies which have established the herb’s safety, we believe that liver damage risks are minimal. Individuals have reported occasional gastrointestinal discomfort following supplementation with the standard 40 mg dosage, and overdosing has been associated with certain adverse effects, including vertigo, headache, nausea, vomiting, impaired vision, and impaired circulation. However, liver failure, liver damage, and liver toxicity are not reported adverse reactions in any of the monographs or studies we’ve reviewed.

In addition, one study specifically examined the effects of Remifemin on liver enzyme concentration and found NO alterations following supplementation. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial revealed that Remifemin does not elevate liver enzyme activity in peripheral blood [Osmers, 2005]. When compared to placebo, there was no statistically significant difference in liver enzyme activity. The maximum increase in liver enzyme activity and the posttreatment ranges for aspartate amino transferase, alamine amino transferase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase were similar for both the placebo and Remifemin groups.

I hope that puts your concerns to rest when it comes to Remifemin...just one more point that all not black cohosh is not the same!
